Epoxy resins are thermosetting. When properly catalyzed, they make high-performance polymers that are widely used in the manufacturing of technical items.
Epoxy resins have excellent mechanical properties and high adhesive strength, as well as excellent electrical insulating characteristics and good resistance to chemical agents. They have a very low shrinkage and very good resistance to high temperatures. Both before and after the hardening process, they are highly insensitive to the umidity and the alkaline substrates.
If properly formulated, epoxy resins are particularly recommended for the treatment of metal supports, and for achieving a perfect adhesion even in the presence of humidity and alkali (like in the case of concrete).
