The lessons of TEDxModena 2018: balance between passion and reason

On Saturday 12th May the second edition of the American format TEDx was held at the Teatro Storchi in Modena, which sees prominent people in the scientific, entrepreneurial, professional and artistic fields sharing their own idea or experience in 12' with a proven direct and powerful formula, able to engage and entertain ("E" as "Entertainment").

The aim is to give voice and to spread ideas and innovative projects ("ideas worth spreading”) to the most heterogeneous and widest public so that the knowledge in the technological field ("T" as "Technology") does not belong only to a few.
TED is a non-partisan and no-profit organization, which since 1984 has spread from California all over the world, dealing with topics ranging from science to business, from culture to art, from innovations to social evolutions and global challenges.

"Gimme Hope - When passion meets reason" was the theme of the conference, which brought together 14 speakers for 12 interventions from all over the world with a common thread: telling the balance between reason and passion, respectively rudder and sailing of our sailing soul.

Your reason and your passion are the rudder and the sails of your seafaring soul. If either your sails or your rudder be broken, you can but toss and drift, or else be held at a standstill in mid-seas. For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction.(Kahlil Gibran)

DUNA-Corradini shares and supports the philosophy on which TEDx is based: thinkers and entrepreneurs who share in a fresh and immediate way what they are most passionate about, providing their idea and their experience. Without judgment or prejudice with the aim of inspiring, intriguing, exciting and involving all generations transversely.
TED means technology, entertainment and design, three large areas that together are shaping our future.
